it takes a lot more than something you can opt in and out of to be able to stop the national guard from shooting you after you deface a symbol of America. niggas have been threatened & shot for burning an American flag.

this is about power, who has it, & what capital really is.
these people took over the US Capitol. they took pictures in the House and Senate chambers. they took letters off of Pelosi’s desk and carried them in the streets w/o fear or shame. that is power, afforded only to them and maintained even w/the burning of something symbolic.
think about the staunch difference between the Puerto Rican Nationalists (who were imprisoned for their staged coup of the US HoR in ‘54) vs. what’s happening here (national guard escorting people out of the Capitol).

that’s power. systemic power.
like, these are very different realities.
