A short thread on debating trans issues.
I don’t believe in debating human rights issues.
Debating is an adversarial process and pits each side against each other.
Worse, it has a ‘winner’ and a ‘loser’, and often the person who argues most eloquently is the ‘winner’.

Worse, it has a ‘winner’ and a ‘loser’, and often the person who argues most eloquently is the ‘winner’.
That means one side can be morally and scientifically ‘right’ but can lose; because they were not charismatic and eloquent enough, or made their points in a clumsy or insensitive way.
But that’s only part of the issue.
But that’s only part of the issue.
Talking about human rights should never be adversarial.
It shouldn’t be a debate, it should be an EMPATHETIC DISCUSSION where everyone is going to be a winner, to a greater or lesser degree.
I will always be open to discussions that centre empathy and humanity.
But not debates.
