GG was never an isolated set of ideologies, but it was a time period of playbooking based around specious harassment campaigns, but it was definitely foregrounded online by earlier OPs and movements detailed by things like #yourslipisshowing and D*ckw*lves

But it's all largely a part of a wider white supremacist spectrum that has sped up organizing and radicalizing online, and gaming has always been very well entrenched as white and conservative, hence why breeding ground for this

GG became a problem because gaming as as an industry, much like our society, is ineffective at maximum for confronting white supremacist violence or is actively aiding and abetting it within its borders

I don't say this to be smug but I feel like people sometimes miss GG's position in the overall extended timeline and it's not the opening salvo, it's a point on a very long line, one that makes up a lot of knotted strands and end up on today
