Public service announcement to the Left & anyone else who cares about anti-racism: Using the racist, loaded, imperialist word “terrorist” to describe the current insurrectionist Trump supporters who have stormed the capitol is unhelpful at best & dangerous at worst.

Armed insurrectionists attempting a coup can be called any of those things. The use of the word terrorist only fuels surveillance & works against defunding the police, who traumatize communities of color, murder Black people in their homes, & tear gas refugees at US-Mexico border

“Terrorist” is more often than not used as a racist slur, a contemporary version of “savage.” While white supremacists attempt a coup on the US capitol, BIPOC, Muslim communities, Palestinians & refugees will bear the punishment.
