I know a brilliant student who is a dedicated feminist, Marxist and labor organizer. She is committed to a stronger Left. She is also committed to studying the far right and fascists because she believes its politically irresponsible not to.
She approaches their ideology, intellectual production and political formations with the utmost seriousness. Taking them seriously and analyzing their power and influence is not a concession. Its not shitting on the Left.
Its not a weakness to acknowledge that these white supremacists are a formidable force gaining power through their organizing. Its a fact, even with their “insiders” in the capitol helping them out.
I appreciate her political and intellectual maturity. No time for defensiveness and hurt feelings. Got to look this reality squarely in the face.
