I have seen a number of tweets about the 25th Amendment. That is not the solution now. Impeachment is. I will explain why.
Aside from the fact that the 25th requires the VP and the Cabinet, which won't happen, once they send a letter stating that the President is unable to perform his duties, he can send a letter saying that no inability exists.
Then the VP and cabinet have to send another letter, and then Congress must assemble and a 2/3 majority of both chambers is needed to remove him.
We don't have time for that back-and-forth and that's actually a higher bar for removal from office than impeachment.
It isn't even clear who counts as the Cabinet for that purpose. The Constitution just says "the principal officers of the executive departments." Does that include acting secretaries or only Senate-confirmed ones?
There would doubtless be court challenges, which we also don't have time for.
The House of Representatives could vote for fresh Articles of Impeachment without delay by a simple majority vote.
The Senate could hear them immediately. I don't know if there are enough Republicans loyal to the republic to act, but it is the correct path forward at this critical hour.
Post scriptum: Some may wish to note that the 25th Amendment says "or of such other body as Congress may by law provide," but Congress has not provided.
If Congress were to attempt to do so now, it would have to pass both houses only to be vetoed by Donald Trump. Congress could override his veto, but only with a 2/3 majority vote in both houses.
