Note to my friends in the media. Yes, we have a social media problem, but making it sound like what is happening in the US is 'only because of social media' is massively irresponsible.

As a MIT study found: https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/10/07/1009642/mainstream-media-is-the-biggest-amplifier-of-white-house-disinformation/
I'm not saying this is solely the press fault either. I'm saying this is complicated, and it's the result of years of polarization across all aspects of US media (traditional and social).
But this is not 'just social media', and no, it's not caused by someone with 345K subscribers on YouTube. This is a societal problem in the US of which we as the press are deeply a part of. We presented this election as a fight ... and we got a fight.
If we want to fix what is happening in the US, we need to see a change across the board. A change away from polarized adversarial reporting, a change away from hosting opinionists who only serve to split people apart, and yes, Twitter should also close Trump's account.
