The COVID-19 threat continues to evolve, which is why Labor has been calling on @ScottMorrisonMP to convene National Cabinet for some time and to establish a national border security quarantine plan. 

This is why we welcome news that National Cabinet is being urgently convened.

Despite the states carrying the weight all last year, border controls and quarantine are a federal responsibility.
 
The question for @ScottMorrisonMP today is will he finally pull Jane Halton’s expert review into hotel quarantine off the shelf and take it seriously?

Jane Halton told the PM back in August, September and October how to improve quarantine - including pre-testing passengers.

@ScottMorrisonMP ignored her then, it’s good he’s finally listened now.

If @ScottMorrisonMP had listened to the three briefings he has received from Jane Halton since August last year, would already have a national border security quarantine plan, including a national quarantine facility.

If had a national border security quarantine plan, the #strandedAussies would have been home by Christmas and we would have been able to adapt to new challenges like the UK strain of COVID-19.

Instead, 40,000 Aussies are still stranded & we must find a way to#BringThemHome

Managing our borders is tough. But, @ScottMorrisonMP has been missing in action for too long. 

Australia needs a national border security quarantine plan - guided by Jane Halton’s expert review and medical advice. 

Our safety and our economy depends on it.
