Honestly, what the past year has taught me, more than anything else, is how right the Chesterton's Fence parable is.
Everyone always thinks you can take one more block out of the jenga tower. And then the whole thing is collapsing, and everybody's acting like they didn't do it

And in reality it's no one person's fault--it's everyone's fault. Everyone took more and more blocks. And each individual block wasn't that important (which only made them easier to take!), but the sum totality of them is overwhelming.
Anyway: local communities. Get involved. Get offline. Go feed the hungry, or teach to kids who need tutors, or help fix broken objects. Plant trees. Leave the R/D divide aside.
We can't change the world--we can't even change the nation. But we can tend our little corners.
