Old school brain wiring will f*ck you up this year.

IF you let it.

Don't let it. ๐…๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐›๐š๐œ๐ค.

Your amygdala.

It's a threat-detecting machine.

One that drives irrational choices.
Emotional override.

Like blasting your parents during a heated conversation.
Amygdala hijack is a bitch.

It's more common in younger folks like myself.

BUT, it can be a serious problem for everyone & anyone.

Hence why grown adults have road rage & say crazy shit in arguments.
Here's how you fight back:

1) Breathe
2) Minimize the issue
3) Murder the loop
4) Map out the issue
5) Classify & Clarify
โ†’ Breathe

Your amygdala trip is like a bad lay: it doesn't last long.

The chemicals released don't linger for hours.

So focus on a breathing rhythm.

Let the dial drop from an 11 to 1.
โ†’ Minimize the issue

@MySuccessTheory had a great tweet about this.

Make a molehill out of a mountain.
Don't make a mountain out of a molehill.

Will I care about this in 5 years?
Will I care on my death bed?

Learn to let go.
โ†’ Murder the loop

Your thoughts feed your behavior & vice versa.

If you feed negative thoughts while stressed, shit will hit the fan.

Create a pocket of peace.

A mantra.
A happy memory.

Something to diffuse your mind bomb.
โ†’ Classify

Grab paper & a pen.

Write down a problem.

If it's out of your control, cross it off.

It's not easy to let things go.
Life is full of unfair shit.

But your time & energy aren't infinite.
โ†’ Clarify

If your problem is in your control, then clarify it.

Identify the worst possible outcomes.
The best.

Outline actions to get to each.

From there, you can work towards the best outcome.
Or avoid the worst.
* Word of Advice *

Don't bullshit on the clarify stage.

If you're late to work, don't go "set alarm for 5:30 instead of 6:15."

You're lacking sleep; you need more sleep.

Go to bed earlier.

Don't snip at the branches; get to the root.
The amygdala vs the prefrontal cortex.

The battle you fight daily.

Choose rationality. Logic. Mindfulness.

Choose control.
