China granted the DRC debt relief. Congo won't repay its interest-free loans from China that matured at the end of 2020. Although Reuters reports have no figure, A journalist in Kinshasa put the value at $28m. There's report of $15m financial aid as well.

President Tshisekedi's 1yr term as AU Chairperson starts next month. To that effect China is donating $2m to support him. As Chairperson, Tshisekedi will be an interlocutor in all AU partnership.Recall, in Dec., China & the AU signed a BRI-AfCFTA agreement.

The next stop for Wang Yi is Botswana. Botswana is another African country that is yet to sign the BRI MoU with China. Since becoming President in 2018, President Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana has moved away from his predecessor's harsh stance towards China.
