signal isn’t great here, but there are weird insurrection vibes at the capitol

just getting signal back after a few hours without. spent a little time right up by the capitol building but left a little before 3pm when it started to feel like there could be a stampede.

lots of sirens headed toward the capitol building but oddly no panic here except one man i passed screaming about the woman who was shot. no one has signal, so no one knows jack shit about anything beyond what they can see. most people don’t seem to know about the shooting.

good souvenir if you can get it

lots to consider right now but i do have one question: do the capitol police have some kind of junior grade crowd control munitions? because the pepper bomb that exploded right on me barely made my eyes water.

like i said, signal has been so bad here that no one knows about anything they didn’t see for themselves. i have some footage to review of the first two hours of the attempted occupation of the capitol.

when the first flash bangs went off, an older man suffered what appeared to be a heart attack. i watched medics attempt chest compressions for several minutes because the dense crowd had them trapped up by the building. when he was carried past me, he looked quite gray.

i’m a few blocks away now. a whole fleet of what looked like swat was headed toward the capitol, so i’m not going back. looks like there are still trump supporters holding the steps of the building.

the crowd is streaming calmly away as seemingly endless cop cars head toward the capitol. seeing multiple jurisdictions, lots of unmarked. vans full of swat.

capitalism is wild. this guy just made a sale.

it’s january and there might be a bomb in the capitol building but neither of these facts seem to bother the crowd lining up for the ice cream truck directly outside

i can’t describe how weird the vibe is here. sirens everywhere. cops on the street just kind of chilling? but i can hear the crowd still occupying the capitol steps chanting & cheering?
