Thread: Who is behind #Hazarakillings & why?
Hundreds of Hazaras have been killed in multiple attacks & thousands have been forced to leave their business activities in #Quetta. One should note here that most successful businessmen in Qta once were a member of Hazara community.
Between 2010 and 2013, the Hazara community in general and Hazara shopkeepers, intellectuals, officers, and businesspeople remained a prime target. By 2014, such attacks had devastated commerce and snatched away most of Quetta's business from the #HazaraCommunity members.
A Hazara officer from the Intelligence Bureau in Quetta told me in 2015 that he could not digests most of the attacks directed at his community were "sectarian driven." "Some attacks on Hazara were aimed to takeaway Quetta's key business from us," he told me.
I met another young Hazara entrepreneur in Islamabad in early 2017. His family had been in the business for over three decades, said he could not believe how the so-called Jihadist destroyed his family's 30-y old business in seconds. He labelled it was a 'gangster Jihadism.
Fruit markets, shops, and public places such as parks and snooker clubs in Quetta remained the main target of Jihadis. Hazaras are all affected due to such attacks, but its business community lost a lot of money. They auctioned their properties, shops, and abandoned business
One of many reasons to target the #HazaraCommunity was probably to occupy the business they once owned. Another reason could be their modern values and Shia faith. However, if it is faith-based violence, why #Shias living without security in Karachi, Lahore, and other parts
of Pakistan are not facing similar attacks. One can say the attacks against the #Hazara are an ethnic cleansing and genocide. It cannot be faith-based violence. The question is, who is behind such attacks, and why? What is the reality of the IS-Khorasan province?
While working on a report f in 2016, linked below: https://www.economist.com/asia/2016/11/17/lethal-partners
we found out that the so-called IS-KP was a mixture of criminals and gangsters. #Balochistan Musalla Difa Tanzeem (BMDT), the group founded by a son of a former petroleum minister, was a key PARTNER
BMDT came to prominence in 2014 after more than 100 dead bodies from three mass graves, was recovered in Khuzdar, Balochistan. The man accused of dumping the bodies was a former Pakistani intelligence services asset.
When the Sharif gov disarmed him, he went rouge and developed connections with criminal groups like LEJ and LEJ Alimi. He provided logistical support to LEJ chiefs Asif Chotu and Hafeez Brohi, Pakistan's most wanted terrorists. IS itself has no formal structure in Balochistan
The group comprises several criminals from BMDT, shattered and scattered Lashkar-E-Jhagvi, Jundullah and some people belonging to extremist groups that have targeted religious minorities. There is no evidence if this alliance of criminals has nexus with Syria and Iraq based ISIS.
Members of IS-KP are less ideological. They commit crimes ranging from kidnapping for ransom, looting trucks on Karachi-Khuzdar highways and drug offences to murder. The end! #Hazarakillings #HazaraLivesMatter #HazaraShiaGenocide #HazaraShiasWantJustice
