i’m gonna do this thread on why I don’t like Scott McCall because someone on tik tok asked and I can’t possibly write it all in there.

this will not be chronological, i’ll just write as i remember things and if you don’t agree well... have a good day.
people think the only thing Scott has ever done wrong was not believing Stiles when he killed Donovan but, not talking about how that’s not even the main issue with that scene, HE IS NOT A GOOD PERSON.
If we talk about isolated incidents then:

He made out with Lydia when Stiles kept talking about her like she was the whole world. Even if they weren’t together, Scott is his best friend???? Wtf??? And don’t excuse it with the full moon, it’s BS
And then he had the nerve to go and hit Isaac because he liked Allison???? Like she belongs to him or smth? hold up
He talks about morality so much but then when the Twins tried to be good and join his pack, they did all these things for him, Scott said they had to prove themselves further to the point where one of them literally died. AND WHO CRIED FOR HIM? Derek.
He called Derek a murderer in several occasions when he had never killed anyone, and he knew it.
He didn’t mind throwing him under the bus when he thought he was dead by saying he was attacking the school which even Stiles thought was wrong.
THEN Stiles doesn’t want to call his dad because he knows it’s not Derek but a blood hungry Alpha hunting them and he is scarred for his only family’s life, and Scott sides with Jackson and makes his best friend call his dad into the line of fire.

Beautiful attitude, love to see
He said “I don’t care” to Erica when she shared how traumatising it was to watch yourself have a seizure as if she couldn’t possibly have any reason to want to be a werewolf, because he himself doesn’t want to be one.

But shamelessly uses his supernatural powers daily
He criticised Derek for giving teenagers a choice and refused to see said teens side of the story. Erica wanted an out of her illness. Isaac wanted an out of his abusive household. Boyd wanted a better life in a pack because he was alone.

Scott thinks he has moral high ground???
you know in the party where people have wolfsbane hallucinations and they see something damaging about their fears? Scott literally is afraid of someone else being better than him. He’s afraid his girlfriend will like another dude.

Deep. His whole character is deep.
And yes, Scott McCall believes his best friend had any other choice in the world BUT to kill the creature that was actively trying to kill him. Because that’s what he would do. With his super strength and alpha powers. Which i truly do not believe he deserves.
He only sees himself. Anything that doesn’t mirror what he believes is right, is wrong to him. He’s close minded and manipulative and he shouldn’t be excused because he’s 16 because that’s only true in the beginning.
I think the only reason people like Scott , is Stiles.

Stiles who trusted the Hale Pack despite his best friend refusing to. Stiles who suggested Scott should ask Derek for help. Stiles who constantly got in trouble with his dad for Scott and got nothing but demands in return
Scott does things driven by the wrong reasons and for the first 3 seasons we see them play out okay because Stiles usually makes decisions independently of his best friend and guides the narrative to the right place.

While Stiles was drowning in a pool to keep Derek
who SCOTT HATES BTW - alive, because Stiles knows Derek is not a murderer unlike Scott who started to believe his own lie at some point, I think - SCOTT HANGS UP THE PHONE ON HIM.

When Stiles disappears in S2 and get a beating from Gerard, he tells him Scott will find him
Now if you remember, even Gerard doubted that.
In season 1, who actually has the guts to do something about Peter? Jackson. Stiles. Derek. Even Allison. Never Scott.

He is NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER nor is he the Hero, he only has the hero complex mixed with imposter syndrome mixed with being a shit person.
I’m not an eloquent person so this is not a great thread and I apologised for the rambling but sim not wrong.

I keep seeing posts about how we have narrative bias from Stiles and that is why you only start really noticing how bad Scott is once Stiles joins the Hale pack
( and yes, i firmly believe he switches pack and SCOTT doesn’t even notice ) because Stiles is actually very unhappy with Scott’s choices.

Otherwise, Scott’s errors are overlooked in order to make him look good. To Allison, mostly
