Today we have witnessed a few notable lock down skeptics now saying they reluctantly support the govt's THIRD lockdown.

Lets remind them

Lockdowns were not imposed with the stated intention of killing Covid. Their purpose was to "flatten the curve" (i.e., delay cases) so
that the health system wasn't overwhelmed. So why then has the government resorted to a third lockdown nine months later? Surely that was enough time to increase NHS capacity.

Even now as we hear about record numbers of Covid patients in hospital, the NHS is no more
"overwhlemed" than it was in previous winter flu seasons.

As for doing lockdown better, you should realise that allegedly good policy shouldn't require perfection to produce some benefits.

If an imperfect lockdown failed miserably
then it's unreasonable to expect a perfectly implemented lockdown (as if that could ever happen) to work.
