Hello troops! At 1pm today, a joint session of Congress will convene to count the electoral college votes. There may also be shenanigans that will no doubt frustrate you. Please watch for who is protecting democracy and who is trying to destroy it. Try to enjoy. We won. 
@cspan is the theatre of choice as there is no punditry. Just literally what is going on in the room where it happened. You can see the reactions, hear the creaking of their chairs. Iâll allow myself this small indulgence and hope @KamalaHarris walks into that room like this
Weâre gaveled in. Pence is here. Wearing a mask. The republicans clapped him in. McConnell is there standing like an usher at a funeral. Hands clasped in front of him. They donât appear to be purple today.
Pelosi takes control of her House. Asks Republicans to abide by agreed upon rules of 11 members each being present per social distant guidelines. They are packed in. There is an audible âBooâ. Such misogynistic pricks. Pence reads tells us about tellers.Theyâll tell us votes.
Shenanigans have begun. Now a point of order. Pence is now forced to tell republicans debate is not permitted in the joint session. The reality is going to come in many doses today.
Should be fun to see what happens with Arizona. Here we go. What happens next, I want to capture...Pence explains AZ has an annexed certificate from âanâ authority of that state (does not say what authority) Klobuchar says the certificate is authentic. Certifies for Biden.
Pence asks if there any objections. Rep Paul Gosar (R-AZ) stands. He has an American Flag mask it is worn below his chin. He looks nervous. His bottom jaw slightly quivering. The waving of the Stars and Stripes giving it away.
Pence asks for what purpose does he rise. The first few words barely audible as they fall out of his mouth. It is as though they donât want to exit his mouth. They hold on to his further drying tongue until he forces them out âI rise uppa bbu ff for myself and 60 of my...
colleagues ttto object the electoral ballots from AZ.â I have seen enough of Paul Gosar in the hearings to know he does not have a stutter. His task now done. His is now relieved. Pence asks if the objection is writing and signed by a Senator 
@tedcruz stands up and says âYes it isâ. Gosarâs nerves fail him as he has now robbed âol Raphael from his shining moment of history as he too says âyes it is.â He looks at Cruz to stand as though begging for someone else to be in the spotlight, friend to join him on the plank.
Cruz obliges. His proudest moment by saying âYes it isâ drowned out by the awkwardness. He stands there proudly, this has happened to him before, with that look on his face. Somehow you can see it through his mask. Audible gasps are heard, then half the Chamber claps.
Theyâre clapping for Gosar and Cruz as they are historically the first to formally change the R to an F. It is not a cheerful clap. The salute is more of âbetter than you than meâ than anything else. There is an anger to it. A â good for youâ that isnât quite good for us.
Cruz has his right hand in his pocket. The republicans are now standing. Cruz lowers his head as though taking a bow. The applause are allowed to continue but they soon die without gaveling or reprimand. They just sort of gave up clapping.
Pence can be heard asking for the next batch of written statements he needs to read. In the silence he simply begins reading. Essentially it says by law because you two numbskulls did this, now the clerk has to read the objection. Clerk, please read the objection
The clerk basically says, these two fools object to the AZ electoral votes on the grounds that âwere not under all of the known circumstances regularly given.â They were. Pence asks if there is anything else? No? Ok. Now go to your rooms. He withdraws from the joint session.
He instructs that each house will deliberate the objection separately.and report its decision back to the joint session. He sends the Senate back to its chamber. There are a couple of further claps. So few just to mention. Not a lot of glad-handing and back slapping.
There will be a lot of crazy spoken today. The final throes of this charlatan driven period. They know this is wrong, they know this against their oaths to the very seats they sit upon today. Remember, what they say today is either for or against our democracy.
