Starting off as a DJ for meridian crew, he performed sets with the grime collective o pirate radio(such as Heat FM 96.6) after meridian crew disbanded, skepta formed BBK with jme in 2006 and was eventually convinced to start mcing by Wiley, the “godfather” of grime.
He then participated in the DVD Lord of the Mics 2 vs Devilman, one of the biggest clashes in grime history and then released his debut album “Greatest Hits”
Following Greatest Hits, Skepta released Microphone Champion, then released a few singles (none are misses btw), including Bad Boy, Rescue me, Cross my heart featuring Preeya kalidas, So Alive, Amnesia and Too Many Man with Jme Frisco Wiley and Shorty
Skepta was supposed to release his second studio album entitled The Honeymoon however after the two singles he released prior received a disappointing response, he decided to release a purchasable mixtape, blacklisted (which in my opinion is one of his best projects)
He started to become familiarised with American artists, releasing It Ain’t Safe with A$AP Bari, the remix of Ojuelegba by Wizkid with Drake, then accompanying Kanye West on stage at the Brits for one of the most iconic performances of all time.
When Konnichiwa released on 6 may 2016, it changed the rap game in the UK, charting at #2, it was the highest charting grime album ever. Konnichiwa also received amazing reviews from critics, and propelled grime even further into the mainstream, with songs like Shutdown and Man.
Skepta then released Vicious EP in 2017, featuring A$AP Rocky, Section Boyz and Lil B. Vicious is also some of Skepta’s best; ghost ride is the best song on it imo. Then Skepta featured on arguably A$AP Rocky’s biggest song, Praise da Lord.
Then in may 2019, Skepta released Ignorance is Bliss, his most overlooked project in my opinion, as the songs on Ignorance is Bliss are works of art and should be recognised as some of the best from the year, and the best produced Skepta album in my opinion.
Then in early 2020 Skepta released a collaborative project with fellow mcs Chipmunk and Young Adz , a fairly underrated project in Skepta’s discography.
End of thread
Skepta is only getting better and bigger, so rest assured his next album will be a classic. @Skepta
