First day teaching live today, few helpful pointers I've picked up working on Teams:
1) all pupils muted, hands up function if want to speak, then I unmute
2) worksheets on assignments to complete during the lesson (set to pupils edit own copy)
3) use forms as starter quiz

4) type "true" or "false" to chat, pupils like whichever one they think for quick feedback
5) hands up function to show when task complete so easy to judge when to move lesson on
6) summary slide shared at end with clear checklist of tasks to submit

Think I will be using the Forms function a lot more for pupils to work on, avoids the faff of Teams messing up word doc formatting/unable to open etc. Just need to tweak questioning to make it work as a quiz rather than open ended- that will still have to be written out

Actually quite enjoyed 4 live lessons today. Did 15 mins ish of talk then set them off independently but stayed live to answer chat questions. Most pupils attended in all lessons, did some great work. And no low level disruption as those kids didn't join so a lovely atmosphere!
Of course, non-attendance is a problem to tackle later but was nice to focus on teaching and helping, rather than battling silly behaviour! And lots of kids said thank you, which is always nice

Plus, bonus of being able to go for a walk during my free to get some fresh air, and not having to do a 1h45 in the car commuting every day! #silverlinings
