For Nollaig na mBan, a thread of women who have inspired me professionally. Professor Mary Horgan of UCC, president of the RCPI. Taught me back in the 1990s, an inspirational leader and world class clinician-scientist.
Dr. Fiona Kelly classmate and GP who has overcome huge personal trauma with a sick child to bring the absolute best of care to one of the most remote parts of Ireland on the Beara peninsula. GP of the year 2019
Prof. Suzanne Norris. She's the most compassionate and practical in the world but if you stand in the way of her providing the best care possible to her patients, you'll find out pretty quickly she means business! I'd more fun and learned more with her than anyone in my training.
Professor Barbara Ryan. Mentor, friend, colleague, ally and the best gastroenterologist in Ireland, by a mile.
Prof. Cliona Ni Cheallaigh. What more is there to say? I go to bed at night wearing Cliona pyjamas @ClionaNi Talks the talk and walks the walk. The next President of Ireland, if anyone has the sense to nominate her.
And not the only Prof. Cliona on the list. Here's @climurphy obstetrician, scientist, leader, campaigner and most of all 'Collig gurl.
Over the sea now to Dr. Clare Donnellan. The kindest, most patient, generous person I ever met. Leading by example every day on the most complex challenges in gastro. Shared an office with me for three years and didn't kill me. And even let my family borrow her house at the end.
Mary Kennedy, former IBD nurse Tallaght Hospital (on the left here) and Yvonne Bailey, research nurse in GI second from right. I semi-competently build on their work every day.
There's also these two chancers here that some of ye may have heard of @ProfSuperJunior @ProfSuperJunior
Susan Clyne CEO of the IMO. When the revolution comes and I am putting together a group to take over the world, Susan will be in charge of it.
Lucy Nugent, CEO, Aine Lynch, DON Tallaght Hospital. They lead with compassion, example, pride and grit every day. Couldn't praise them highly enough. Also they put up with me......*gestures arms wildly*... in general. Special bonus great local GP Catherine Wilkinson and E Whelan
And last but not least. Nothing works for me professionally or personally without these two.
Apologies to the many I've met along the way who I have left out. You know who you are. And always, always. always @Tessandom
