NFL Draft Thread || Ja'Marr Chase, WR LSU

Statistics:
2018 - Freshman - 23 REC | 313 Y | 3 TD - Age 18
2019 - Sophomore - 84 REC | 1,780 Y | 20 TD - Age 19**
2020 - Junior - Opted Out

Awards:
2019 - Fred Biletnikoff Award - Nations best WR

**Breakout Age
For comparison, the 2020 Heisman Trophy Winner Devonta Smith finished with 1,641 yards on 21 more receptions.

Smith had very little comp around him when Jaylen Waddle went down. Only one other Bama player had more than 45 receptions (47, John Metchie)
Chase had 2020 NFL ROY candidate Justin Jefferson snagging 111 receptions in 2019 and still beat him out for the nations best pass catcher.

If it weren't for some insanely good QB play out of Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts or Justin Fields, we could've been talking Chase for Heisman.

According to @dynogametheory Chase fits the mold of the perfect Top-24 Dynasty WR
|| Strengths

Chase possesses elite size for a #1 WR comparing to some of the NFLs best. However, his hands are what sets him apart from most.

Watching film, Chase uses arm extension to snag passes frequently making it difficult for defenders to jar the ball loose.
|| Strengths

Chase is also an excellent fighter. It makes him great at catching contested balls while also making it difficult for defenders to pull him down often falling forward for additional yards or finding the sticks when needed.
|| Weaknesses

Although according to @BruceFeldmanCFB Chase has improved on his 40-time from HS to College he isn't the quickest receivers out there. This forces him to use more of his size to separate than speed and can cause some cleanliness issues on his routes.
|| Overall

There will be a lot to be said about Devonta Smith vs. Ja'Marr Chase this offseason and while Smith is good, Chase is just on a whole other level. Not to mention, Smith's breakout age is three years older than Chase.
|| Overall

Chase possesses the elite characteristics of a stud NFL receiver. While landing spot is up in the air and obviously matters, Chase is the type of receiver that can fit in any NFL system and instantly propel both himself and that teams offense.
|| Projections

According to @TheDraftNetwork early 2021 Draft Projections have Ja'Marr Chase being selected 6th or 7th overall to Eagles, Dolphins or Lions based on predicted trades.
|| Projections

The Eagles seem like the perfect spot for Chase who are in desperate need for receivers. Pairing Chase's clean possession catch ability and dominate red zone talent with Jalen Reagor's speed will instantly make Philly one of the best offenses on paper.
|| Projections

However, if Chase ends up in Miami or Detroit there may be some question marks at least from a fantasy perspective. Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins and CeeDee Lamb all flourished in their rookie years with elite WRs opposite them.
|| Projections

But in Miami, there may be too many mouths to feed with DeVante Parker, Preston Williams and Mike Gesicki. The resigning of Chan Gailey and inconsistency from Tua also leave question marks.
|| Projections

In Detroit, 5 WRs are currently set for Free Agency. Does Marvin Jones or Kenny G come back? Are either of them "elite" enough to allow Chase the freedom like Jefferson had in Minnesota? Will Matt Stafford still be there? Too many question marks in DET.
|| Projections

Overall I am not worried about his landing spot. Whether its Philly (ideal), Miami, DET or someone else, Chase is an elite type receiver who will garner top-3 Dynasty draft picks and should propel your dynasty leagues for years to come!
