Don’t fall for the argument that the Proud Boys are not racists and whites supremacists just because they have some members who are people of color. (1/n)
They are openly against BLM, openly pro-police (despite recent clashes with police), and champions of the idea of the superiority of “western civilization,” which is — don’t kid yourself — a term that signifies certain white/christian cultures and peoples from Western Europe.
They are the ground forces of the far right, which in this country has always been tied to white supremacy, even when they learn a few words from the archive of diversity.
Add to this the toxic masculinity, the heteronormativity, the anti-immigrant hatred, the pro-militaristic ideology, the pro-gun fanaticism, etc, and you have a deadly mix.
In short: opposed to everything we stand for as racial and social justice movements. (end)
