This is a little bit of a deep cut but I think there are huge benefits in progressives making re-regulating supplements into a priority.

1) It's a public health win- you would no longer have people putting unregulated god knows what into their bodies
2) It's pretty easy to explain to people

because the idea that no one is checking to make sure these pills aren't made out of sawdust is pretty freaky.

It's an easy pitch- don't you want your fish oil pills to actually be made out of fish oil?
3) You pair it with fixing the FDA's budget so they can actually do the regulating

In the 1990s, the Republicans made the FDA dependent on fees from corporations for a lot of their budget.

This makes the FDA too cosy w/ those corporations.

Put it back the way it was
4) (this is the best part, cause it's the really strategic part)

Regulating supplements cuts the legs out from under the worst of the right wing grifters.

Alex Jones and his ilk make most of their money off of garbage supplements

Make that no longer a viable revenue source
It also potentially cleans up some really gross MLMs

(multi level marketing = aka Amway pyramid scheme garbage)

And for my second policy recommendation-- make MLMs illegal
Pass legislation to fix the MLM loophole court case and get these scammy bitches OUT of here
I sent this thread to my BFF and she said-- when can I vote for you 😂😂
