Initial reporting was lower efficacy sure but ongoing trials showed higher. We aren't getting the pfizer one in large doses as other govts had dibs based on investment & the fact it needs to be stored at -70⁰C making transportation to Aus difficult (AZ is 2-8⁰C) https://twitter.com/johnsy123aus/status/1346751870832840704
Another reason why AZ is cheaper than pfizer is AZ is doing it not for profit while pfizer is profiting
AZ had 2 arms where following second full dose efficacy was lower than a half dose as the secondary dose. Weird data. The flu vaccine also sits at 67% efficacy in any given cycle
There will likely be a drop in efficacy of pfizer and likely AZ too in real use because real patients real life drops efficacy as we can't control like we can in a clinical trial
I honestly do not the Scott morrison decided on the AZ one himself. Sure LNP are in power but honestly the advice would have come from impartial health experts who would view all factors not just one measure (e.g the previously mention temperature issue)
