I follow a few Twitter accounts from lively and interesting young UK military historians. Apparently there is a some class-based slagging of Open University going on there, an ill-advised overreaction to in-person universities closing again. @SpitfireFilly 1/
As an instructional designer in the 90s I closely examined OU and was blown away. It is qualitatively light years ahead of any distance learning program in the States, and is an engine for expanding access to higher ed. We should be so fortunate as to have anything like it. 2/
So you keep on keeping on, Open University. Here's to ya from a US admirer. /end
Coda: in case it wasn't clear above, my UK colleague Victoria was denouncing not perpetrating the aforementioned slagging. Just to clear that up.
