Four years of Trumpism. We reckoned it would be bad and then for a moment in Jan 2017 we hoped it wouldn't be. But it was worse than we ever imagined.

What has it cost the GOP, the party of Lincoln, which had many good, decent and tolerant people amongst it's ranks /1
who have now left and want nothing more to do with it. It's cost the House of Representatives, the White House and now the Senate. It's cost us our standing abroad and the trust, the hope and the optimism of so many Americans. Among so many other things. /2
America is no longer in it's present state a shining city on a hill. Racism, xenophobia, intolerance, torture of immigrants. Indifference to poverty and suffering. Kids going to bed without a nutritious meal. And so much more. The whole lot. /3
Hopefully today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year will bring brighter days. A restoration of civil dialogue and common decency would be a good place to start. /4
I wish @JoeBiden @KamalaHarris @RonaldKlain and the incoming team all the best. They know what needs to be done. Time to get on with it. Don't let pessimism, vindictiveness, negativity or looking back bring you down people. We can do this.
