Let's get some stats out of the way first. I've attempted to demonstrate how unique Puig is by creating a graph depicting key passes and shot assists p90.
As you can see, Puig and Pedri are the only mids high in the upper-right quadrant that excel in both categories.
However..

Note that in order to get a bigger sample, I've included all stats from the calendar year as opposed to 20/21 exclusively.
Similarly, here's another graph, this time focusing on second+third assists and passes to danger area (final third + box).
Again, Puig among the best!

His best attributes include destabilising a low block, using late runs to assist the attack and accelerating the play immensely.
How does he do that? Usually it's through simple and yet effective mechanisms like pass & move, scanning and receiving in optimal body shapes.

Here's an example of Puig exiting the defender's cover shadow to open a passing channel btw the lines and then scanning for his next move.
As soon as he receives the ball, he can run with it and advance the play towards the wing.
Simple at first sight but difficult to execute.

Also note that the way he receives possession is key in accelerating the play. Usually he receives with an open body shape but can also do so with a closed one to lure the defender in.
This gives the defenders a false sense of security, prompting them to engage the ball.

This is where Puig uses the turn of the shoulder to completely dismark himself.
Here's an example below as he receives with back to goal but lets the ball slide over his body and onto his right foot so he can send it beyond the defender.

You can find more examples of this and other aspects that make @RiquiPuig a unique presence in Barcelona's midfield in the article itself.
Will Koeman realise this and give him a chance? Only time will tell.
