Also Ho Chi Minh said he didn't bother writing any theory because Mao wrote everything about Marx that needed to be written, which is a funny concept that I like.
Damn, Ho worked with the OSS to fight Japanese imperialism. He was hoping to appeal to the anti-colonial attitude of the American public and gain american support for independence from France. What a missed opportunity, fuck Dulles or whoever decided to turn their back on him
Honestly it's disgusting. Ho knew to appeal to one of the only good aspects of American culture (hating the British) and we could have just not helped those French imperialist pieces of shit and millions would have been saved.
The real heartbreaking thing about this history is how big of a betrayal this was. We did the same to Sukarno (who paid homage to Paul Revere when he declared Indonesian independence) and Ho (who actually copied our declaration of independence as a sign of respect).
Even Che looked to the american revolution as a model for throwing off colonial chains. All these movements expected to earn their freedom and then join the developed world in trade and commerce. And the US spit in their faces and I hate them for it.
During WW2 the US allied w the USSR and other leftist govts/forces to fight fascism. There were people in FDR's administration who loved their country and had leftist sympathies. We really could have done the right thing here, but the bad guys won the power struggle.
And all those halfway decent people were chased out during the Red Scare, which was really just a slow motion coup to purge every leftist and new dealer from the govt. These people did not actually think the USSR was invading us.
It just sucks reading about this salvageable idea of America that might have been ok, but instead it's just a weapons dealing empire that steps on the throats of every other country it can so that a handful of pedophiles can make a few more billion dollars.
Fuck Churchill and Truman and anyone else who turned away from WW2 and the unique evil of the Nazis, just to let a bunch of colonialists brutalize the global South.

Sorry I'll stop yelling, this is just despair inducing history. I can't imagine the evil this govt dishes out to stop someone like Ho or Sukarno or Lumumba. It's so cruel.
