We would immediately stop hearing about kids in cages, about the wall, about Russia, about the impeachment, about his taxes. It would have all vanished had they just done the bare basics.

Dubya's first year was bullshit. He was a joke. He wasn't the worst ever but he was floundering, trying to even figure out what the hell he was doing in the White House.

Never mind his own incompetence likely allowed 9/11 to happen in the first place.

I want to also point out that most of what Dubya did was nonsense and has hurt us in the long run.

But the point is, he was seen to be engaged. To be doing something other than saying the problem would miraculously vanish.
