I’m going to have to do a rambling thread on Trump and his unwillingness to accept he’s lost the election. Only because it reminds me so much of what happened in the U.K. when the referendum result came in.

1/
The main difference is we won’t have to wait another presidential term to see Trump removed from the White House (unless he has something up his sleeve in which case we might, but I’m not seeing it).

2/
First you have the same people that claimed his election was illegitimate and that the vote was rigged, now claiming that this is impossible and can’t ever happen. (This includes news outlets in America). The hypocrisy on that can’t ever be ignored.

3/
One American principle is meant to be predicated on the peaceful transfer of power between presidents, say what you want of Obama he at least stuck to that core principle. Trump has let himself down and his term by not adhering to that.

4/
Even if he thinks he has a solid legal challenge, he should be preparing to hand over power to Biden until he proves and a court agrees he shouldn’t. That would be the dignified way to do it.

5/
The entire thing is (this is where I remain consistent compared to so many others) a disgrace to democracy. I wouldn’t have accepted Brexit being stopped because of all the allegations (false) about how we won the Brexit vote. So I wouldn’t accept Biden...

6/
...being kept out of office based on accusations. The protests are the same as what we witnessed, although at least they aren’t being “woke” the media are not on their side either, which is in contrast to Brexit. The media played the anti-Brexit narrative from the start.

7/
Think of that as a huge difference, imagine if Trump was against the election and the mainstream media (pretty much all of it) was with him, how divided do you think Americans would be then?

8/
They are divided enough, it’s good that the media have maintained their stance... sorry remembered their stance on the peaceful transition of power. They were against him on the way in, during and after. Even when he unarguably did good, they spun it against him.

9/
Trump was in one way America’s “Brexit” but, there isn’t any end to this, he was there through the electoral college not the popular vote so it wasn’t the “will of the people” it was just a good campaign that shocked everyone.

10/
However, there was no end result to Trump, he couldn’t stay forever, what I do wonder now is how Americans reunite! Brexit is done here (and about time) eventually (after the teething issues are resolved) people will move on.

11/
I’m guessing that won’t happen in America. The Democratic Party and their protests never stopped. The rioting etc... was a constant attack on Trump with the media twisting what he said at every turn.

12/
With sleepy Joe, they’ll do what they did when Obama was in charge. Nothing, they won’t care, but will the republican side of the debate use the same tactics? At the moment it looks like a yes.

13/
I’m more concerned about Biden then I am/was Trump, Trump liked to negotiate, I don’t think Biden has the ability to do that (or the focus). The man became a meme for effective incompetence and being a bit “out of it” when Vice President. Was does that say? It’s not great!

14/
His stance on China will be the one to watch, then we have to see what “rocket man” does, as he will of course test the Biden administration at some point! Trump was about dropping less bombs, this will be a return to normal I guess. Which is concerning.

15/
Lastly, the hypocrisy is on both sides. You can’t argue in one election it’s fair and beyond reproach and then 4 years later say it’s not fair. Not without some serious proof. The same goes the other way.

16/
Looking back at the first few days after the Brexit vote, and I can remember the media had already found people that had clearly voted remain but were claiming “they never thought Brexit could win so voted for it and regret it” 🙄

17/
And lastly, the interview done of the protesters and the student crying and when asked why she stated “we have just left the EU they gave us the NHS” - amazing. Oh, and Cornyn demanding the immediate triggering of article 50. (No thought for Parliament which he later said was...
...an outrage that Parliament was only consulted because of the courts. (Huge hypocritical moron, glad he is gone). Also glad the deal must have met Labour’s (specifically Starmer’s) “6 tests” or they would not have voted for it (that’s what he said previously). 🤷‍♂️

19/
Anyway, a rambling thread with rambling tweets. It always comes down to this simple concept though, whether we agree or we don’t, we should always be on the side of democracy!

Far too many gave their lives for democracy! Don’t let them down!

20/20 or 2021? Can’t do 2020 again.
Random thought, say Trump was facing charges for something (as many are randomly claiming) could he step down, put Pence as President and then have Pence give him immunity (which is a tradition for an outgoing President anyway, shock I know).

Thoughts?
