I posted this comic earlier in a thread and it bothered some people. That's fine though.

What people seem to be caught up on is the idea that they "owe" their parents anything. This is something I'm running into a lot lately...

My niece & I had a fight recently.
She didn't like that I told her she should call her grandmother after she was sent Christmas gifts. She also said I shouldn't be taking care of my elderly aunt because it's hard on me..and objected when I told her I felt like I owed my aunt my loyalty after all she'd done for me.
Humans have a lifecycle, like it or not. Parents raise kids, kids grow up, parents eagerly await grandkids, grown kids become parents, grandparents grow old & ultimately need care from the young, etc. The cycle repeats, again & again.

It's normal.
But for some reason, modern people think they're somehow above all this. My niece thinks the answer is sticking my aunt in a nursing home & being done with it. I think that's the most heartless shit I've ever heard & it made me think less of her.
"She (my aunt) should have planned better for old age" says the overgrown child living in a shed in my backyard who doesn't know where she'll be in 6 months. Lol 🙄
So do I think you owe your parents grandchildren? No. However, you do owe it to them to at least be understanding about why they fucking want & hope for them. You also owe them some time & care when they're old & infirm. They wiped your ass, eventually you get to wipe their's.
Add this to the pile of very unpopular opinions I hold about dealing with reality....a reality that often sucks, but doesn't give a shit what we think of it anyway. Lol
