Frankly I don't know why you're so afraid of Democrats having all of the federal government to themselves when most of the country allowed pretty much every single one of their rights to be summarily put on pause for 8 months without so much as a vote.
At least they'll send you a check so they can keep up the pretense of being the party that Cares™, whereas Republicans will only mildly whine a bit about spending while simultaneously letting your money go to gender studies in Pakistan.
I've said before we were already over the event horizon when the people supposedly most well-versed in our Constitution could decide that sure, the federal government can tax you for breathing without insurance.
I mean consider the fact that the first government the Founders built was so weak it failed *because it couldn't tax anything*, but sure those guys would be totally cool with fining people for not having health insurance.
Even I couldn't have imagined the Covid Deathstar though. "Hey all those amendments that explicitly say the government can't take this stuff from you? Yeah sorry you might get sick so we're gonna have to put that on hold...indefinitely."
It'll always blow my mind that it didn't even require a vote. They just declared it so by executive fiat, which is completely antithetical to the entire idea of America, and we all just took it.
They didn't even have to be consistent about it. "15 days only, we promise...wait no sorry 30, I meant 30. Did I say 30? Really we're gonna need 60. Ok ok last time, 90, 90 days and it'll be over...look you know what? Let's just leave it open ended."
