A thread on Semler Scientific $SMLR.

Peripheral Artery Disease is when plaque builds up in the extremities and can eventually cause ischemia (think heart attack to the legs).

1/5 people over 60 and 1/2 of people over 85 have it.

Semler Scientic has a better way to diagnose it.
Traditionally to get a diagnosis you get sent to a vascular specialist who does an ankle-brachial index which is time consuming. Also, 75% of patients with PAD are asymptomatic and because of how busy primary care providers are they may miss it.
Semler Scientific has created a device called QuantaFlo where a clip is placed on a finger and a toe and then a report is generated in 5 minutes. This can be done by a CNA or RN prior to the provider stepping in the room.
The company is an attractive investment because it’s big driver is selling the reports which creates a SaaS business model.

It generates 90% gross profit

Q3 2020 revenue 10.7M vs Q2 6.4M

Balance sheet with 16.8M in cash and no debt
Also has optionality as they have made investments in 2 private companies and entered into a marketing and distribution agreement with another private company
CEO owns 12% of the business
Current market cap ~600M
I am long $SMLR and plan to dollar cost average in.
