I have been saying some version of this basically every election night for at least five or six years, and I have been yelled at a lot.

One more time, for the cheap seats in the back: Once the polls close, the result is locked in. Nobody is "leading" or "trailing" throughout the evening.

Normally this is just my own really stupid pet peeve where I am technically right and the rest of you are trying to make democracy entertaining. I get it.

This is the U.S. president pushing the idea of electoral fraud based on the false impression created by reporting incomplete vote tabulations in real time.
Election officials should just report the results once all the votes are tallied.
