Hard to believe we started @WISER_Network in 2017. In 2020 we had our 1st Steering Committee, reached > 100 members + growing. It's been a delight to work w/ many amazing people to build #WISER. I am delighted to step down today as Chair + for @JulieLMacArthur to Chair in 2021!
A little bit of @WISER_Network history. In 2017 I organized a panel for a @TRCA_HQ Climate Change Symposium with Dr. Bipasha Baruah, @runardas @JulieLMacArthur and @jma_TO as speakers, attended by @reblackatweet for @WiRE_Canada and profiled here: https://womenspost.ca/where-are-the-women-in-canadian-green-tech/
Based on the response to that panel, @bmlazowski and I organized the first meeting a few months later, @jma_TO organized a meeting room @RyersonCUE. It was attended by @LMTozer, @jesscapo, @reblackatweet for @WiRE_Canada.
In 2017/2018, @jesscapo designed our website https://wseresearch.com , and @bmlazowski and @LMTozer organized media training workshops with @Divine_Redhead and @InformedOps @ShariGraydon with financial support from @WISEwaterloo and @NSERC_CRSNG.
@RobartsCentre offered to be our administrative home, offering us $ support as a research cluster. With that support, @kaisercolleen and @morrisseywyse developed an internal network listserv for members.
In 2019, @bmlazowski @LMTozer @H_Castleden @JulieLMacArthur J. Lieu and L. Miller and I designed a governance structure outlining membership, processes, roles + responsibilities through a terms of reference + became the first Steering Committee in 2020.
@WISER_Network became the 125th Signatory to the #Equalby30 campaign https://yfile.news.yorku.ca/2019/11/17/york-research-cluster-receives-international-recognition-for-working-to-advance-sustainable-development-goals/ and we also formalized a reciprocal partnership with @WiRE_Canada
One last thing: our *amazing* logo was designed by @bmlazowski's sibling. We had many discussions, and I remember we wanted it to be NOT feminine, very matter of fact. I really love the design.
