1) I gotta say somethin’. Two years ago a lot of west coast people in my industry threatened to boycott the state where I work because they weren’t happy with the way the politics had gone.
2) I had conversations with some of those people personally. I tried to help them see the wider vision of the direction the south is moving in, particularly Georgia - partially due to the film industry. The people I spoke to were coming from genuine places...
3) ...standing up for what they believed to be right. I’m not naive enough to believe all threats were coming from this place. However genuine or not, the method was wrong. We stuck it out and we proved them wrong in November.
4) I don’t know what the results will be today, but I think y’all owe us an apology. I saw some of the same people who tried to boycott us saying they “believe in Georgia” and “do the right thing, Georgia” with no “I’m very sorry I threatened your livelihood” in between.
5) It’s real easy to see why regular people get pretty disenfranchised by liberal burn-it-all-down platitudes. Y’all come on, you’re welcome to shoot here in Georgia, we got oodles of talent across the board.
6) But a simple “I’m sorry” might make us feel more like humans and not simply disposable cogs in your machine... and I think it will make you feel more human too.
