#Breaking Hong Kong police have arrested more than 50 pro-democracy politicians under the National Security Law.

Some of them are detained on suspicion of subverting state power, for having taken part in unofficial primary polls ahead of a planned legislative election.
* “around 50”, according to RTHK.
The logic is this: Pro-democracy camp wanted to get more than half of the 70 seats in the Legislative Council, the electoral method of which is designed in such a way that’s always ensured a pro-Beijing majority. For Beijing, the pro-democracy camp was trying to subvert its power
In other words: attempting a legislative majority in Hong Kong is officially regarded as against China’s national security (if you’re not from the pro-Beijing camp)
