Things you can do during lockdown to help with low mood and ultimately improve your mental health.
1/6

1. Connect with others.
Research shows that talking to people about the way you are feeling can reduce stress and anxiety.
Giving someone a video call or phone call to discuss how you both are feeling can give you a sense of self worth and encourage you to support others.

2. Try some physical activity.
When we are active, endorphins (happy hormones) are released into the bloodstream which results in a change of mood.
Try a home work out, or go for a walk to clear your head, give yourself different surroundings and improve your self esteem.

3. Perhaps a new hobby?
Doing things we are good at can improve self esteem and give us a confidence boost to try other things we may we interested in.
If you have been putting of a new hobby or want to learn something different this may the time to get started

4. Give to others
Research suggests that acts of giving and kindness can help improve your mental wellbeing by creating positive feelings and sense of reward.
Perhaps helping a neighbour with some shopping or giving a friend or relative a call and really listen to them.

5. Stay present
Paying attention to the here and now (mindfulness) can reduce stress or worries about the past and future by being aware of your presence now.
Mindfulness can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.
