...but I favor Josh's approach. @Rich_Barton of @zillow is also quite committed in encouraging & promoting their executives into board roles. If you you read "Range" by @DavidEpstein, you know a breadth of exposure can directly impact creativity & innovation. Good, right? (more)
So helping your executives find board roles (1) helps them in their career path, & (2) will also be beneficial to your company. It's a win-win. If you are an ambitious/curious executive you should only join companies that support external BOD participation. (one more!)
