Things I learned from the last remote learning: 1. Don't plan as much as a normal in person class - you won't get through half of it. Even a very fast talking Cavan woman like myself failed in this arena. Start small & build it up if you need to #edchatie #remotelearning 1/10
2. Don't set loads of homework. We don't know whats happening behind the scenes for students or how they might be struggling to keep up with schoolwork & homelife. Keep it minimal but worthwhile #edchatie #remotelearning 2/10
3. Set homework that won't overload you with extra marking. You also need downtime & to have mindspace from schoolwork. This is really important if you've loads of classgroups (I have 12 different teaching groups
). #edchatie #remotelearning 3/10

4. Teams/Zoom/Live lessons aren't as scary as you'd think. I avoided them last time but have got in some good practice since then & have found it much easier to manage than I thought. Loads of help online for these! @MS_eduIRL a good place to start #edchatie #remotelearning 4/10
5. It's really helpful to have a basic plan written down for the structure of your lesson...if you're like me, you'll get carried away talking about Netflix, GAA & showing off your dog otherwise
. #edchatie #remotelearning 5/10

6. If you're setting online work, try to view it on a device and on your phone to make sure it's clear in both. Chances are you'll have students using their phones for school work. #edchatie #remotelearning 6/10
7. Don't feel the pressure from others online or in real life to be creating the most engaging, technological lesson ever. Do what you are comfortable doing, students will get more from you & your knowledge than what you are using. #edchatie #remotelearning 7/10
8. Ask for help if you need it. There are so many willing and able minds & hands at the touch of a button if you feel like you need help with stuff. Just ask! The twitter edu community is unreal #edchatie #remotelearning 8/10
9. Set a schedule for yourself of work. If you can work your timetable hours, great! If not, create your own timetable & have a shut off point. I didn't do this well the last time and really suffered as a result. #edchatie #remotelearning 9/10
10. Be nice to your IT people. They are moving mountains behind the scenes. They are also worried that things will fail, they are planning for all eventualities. They are hoping they've done enough too. Being nice really matters.
