The most annoying thing about being in DSA is people conflating a robust org structure with bureaucracy. You cannot have a big tent model without fail safes to ensure the entire thing isn't compromised by bad actors.
One of the silliest things I see time and time again is people getting absolute INCENSED that they're expected to learn how DSA operates and can't immediately barge into a meeting and propose a half-baked idea to membership.
I get frustrated with the more procedural end of things, but I have never had a problem finding someone more experienced that is willing to answer questions or help me understand things. If you're lost, just ask!
What is even more frustrating is people constantly pointing out that the bylaws are trash/confusing/full of weird corporate jargon but then doing absolutely nothing to help change them or even offering useful suggestions to the people who ARE working on them.
Organizing is boring sometimes. Setting up infrastructure is BORINGGGG. Changing rules and procedures SUCKSSS. But someone has to do it. And our motivation for doing the boring stuff is to make it easier on the next person.
