Eminem came up the organic way. He battle rapped in places like the hip hop shop and ebony showcase to earn his respect and be heard. He also competed in the rap Olympics and other battle rap competitions until he was finally discovered by Dr Dre.
In 1998, Dr. Dre used to have listening sessions in Jimmy lovine's house and he found a cd of Em brought by Jimmy's Intern from Rap Olympics. After meeting Eminem, dre gave him some samples and Em within minutes went on with "Hi, my name is, my name is"
And that's how the legacy started. After the first album Eminem said "I knew he was taking a risk. You know, I owe him my life for that" and Eminem has always been there for Dr. Dre and they both helped each other in their career as well as in the personal life.
In 2000, 50 Cent was dropped from Colombia records and blacklisted after he was shot 9 times. Eminem discovered 50 Cent after listening to the compilation album "Guess Who's back" and signed 50 Cent for $1 Million record deal. 50 Cent went on to release "Get Rich or Die Tryin"
Eminem alongside with Paul founded "Shady Records" in 1999 and D12 were the first one to be signed since Em has been a part of D12 from 1996. D12 released "Devil's Night" in 2001. Due to Em's international success, the album debuted #1 in U.S and sold 4 Million albums Worldwide.
Even though Bizarre and Proof had success in their solo careers, D12 was successful internationally because of Eminem and their next album "D12 World" released in 2004 debuted #1 in U.S, U.K and Australian charts and #2 in Germany.
In 2004, Eminem and Rosenberg began a venture offered by Sirius Satellite Radio that saw the airing of their uncensored hip hop radio station, Shade 45. Eminem also signed rappers like Obie Trice, Cashis, Yelawolf and also DJ Alchemist for shady records.
Eminem being one of the greatest in Hip Hop influenced many next generational rappers and has always been recognized by the Legends of Hip hop for his lyrical ability and unconditional love and passion for hip hop. Here are few examples.

Kendrick Lamar - "Eminem is genius. I don’t think anybody’s matching him now. He definitely influenced my style"
J Cole - "It’s silly how big of an Eminem fan I am. It was a very select group of top notch people that I worship and Eminem was literally at the top of that list. My first song sounded like an Eminem bite"

Also Eminem was never afraid to stand up for the black community and the racial injustice against them. Em rapped about Trump and his racism against the black community in The Storm, 2017 BET Cypher which led to Secret Service Interviewing Em over his lyrics on The storm.
In the latest Deluxe version of "Music to be Murdered By" Side B, Eminem pays tribute to several victims of police brutality in the song named Zeus.

Eminem also featured many upcoming rappers and artists like Joyner Lucas, Young M.A, White Gold, MAJ, Jessie Reyez and Skylar Grey on multiple songs in his various albums.
Eminem is a hip hop legend and icon. His legacy will forever live on through the various artists in the industry as well as millions of people he’s impacted throughout his career. #RespectEminem
