On serendipity, creating, community, myself, & finding the intersection of each that @robertoblake talks about in @_terrywarfield's new YT video. (I happened to watch it yesterday, it's really good: -- @Casey, @ijustine...so many rad humans)

A quick🧵👇
A few months ago, I started a daily online gratitude journal of sorts ( @DidWeWakeUp). This helps me frame my mindset and start the day accomplishing a simple creative task--usually early in the morning. I write something I'm learning, worth sharing, or how I think, everyday.
Yesterday, while brushing my teeth, I was thinking about how doing things leads to interacting with others or having interesting experiences, which can increase our opportunities for serendipity: https://twitter.com/DidWeWakeUp/status/1346118334039789568
So last night, it's cold, rainy and windy, I decide to go do something that helps me work through being comfortable with uncomfortable & doing hard things (two things I'm learning to love). I grab a hoodie and I go for a freezing rain run. (Sorry, @mkobach not in a @fast hoodie)
During my run, I let my mind wander, I start thinking about the NFL season, and how my favorite team the @MiamiDolphins lost in excruciating fashion to @GingerBeloved's @BuffaloBills. And then about all the frustrating fan reactions I read online about missing the playoffs.
And then it hits me (like the 🌧️): I can use my "thing" (something @Flossycarter & others mention in Terry's🎥) & bring my optimism mindset, my new-found love for✍️ & a love for football, and find that intersection with frustrated fans, to help us all navigate feelings of 💔loss.
So late last night after my run & fam was in bed, I started writing on @medium. I wanted to take action, and like @david_perell talks about "just keep writing...and worry about flow, transitions, and word-choice later" https://twitter.com/david_perell/status/1260800545234620417
I figured out that I wanted to write this in a way that intersected the frustrated fan mind x my own feelings--from the sad disappointing end of 2020 season to the optimism and excitement of 2021, & maybe help others too. (While understanding people process at different speeds.)
Fun fact: Part of me wondered how this would be received, as I don't normally write this way, so I almost didn't publish. But a little voice said, try, believe in my intent, & let the market decide)
Anyway, here's where I landed on that intersection👇👇 https://sipp.medium.com/dear-miami-dolphins-i-am-done-ff02f328eaa7
And it's funny; At first, of course there was zero engagement. I was thinking to myself, did I really just✍️this whole article for myself.
Then little by little, Twitter's algorithm, and a rad human named Big E ( @ian693), the @MiamiDolphins fan of the year, helped with discovery.
And the feedback started rolling in: https://twitter.com/ian693/status/1346486459390439431?s=20
And the intended effects were happening: https://twitter.com/mattsnider65/status/1346508023838121984?s=20
And fans were enjoying it: https://twitter.com/AkselLeth/status/1346515945158828032?s=20
And I connected with some cool new humans, with shared interests: https://twitter.com/KennyBa55577845/status/1346533213183815686?s=20
All because I've been trying new things, creating regularly, finding ways to add value to others, and even when I had doubts, like my guy @iSocialFanz says, "press the d*mn button". (his version of that is normally video, but same goes for hitting 'publish')
tl;dr Whether you want to connect with other like-minded individuals, get yourself out there, or build brand & community, find your intersection opportunity.
Understand where your talents, interests, & value-adds meet an opportunity, and then most importantly: act.
Had I not watched Terry's vid, not gone for a🌧️run, not started✍️, & not published this morn, I wouldn't have had that @medium article, the follow-up conversations & new friendships made, or the story to share this🧵with you all.

"Action Creates Opportunities For Serendipity"
If you read this far, I genuinely appreciate you.

My goals for ✍️this:
- practice writing
- share lessons learned
- inspire others to go do their thing

We're all trying to navigate & find ways to add value in the world and it's better to do together than alone.
