Welcome to the Casual Zel TA13OO Ranking, based on personal preference, not general greatness. Sit back, scroll, and enjoy the review! RT for exposure, took me quite awhile to put this together 😅
1. TABOO- 9
This is the perfect intro to an album with such a unique style, the melodic intro to the song paired with a verse with some meaning. In the verse he refers to a child that was molested, and ends the verse with “Paper planes being thrown on the lawn”
TABOO cont.
This paper planes line leads directly into the first line of BLACK BALLOONS, which eventually leads to “Taboo and I are in the same boat” showing the connection between the character of “taboo” and Zel directly
2. BLACK BALLOONS- 8.5
The deceivingly upbeat production on this song hides a pretty dark themed song overall. Black balloons representing all the pain and darkness in life, painted valentine red like the movie IT, which is referenced a few times. Great guest verse as well
3. CASH MANIAC- 5
Overall, this track is my least favorite on the album, and it’s still not below average in my eyes. Several good lines, a nice beat, and a great sounding feature chorus as well, but nothing stands out as being particularly good on this track
4. SUMO- 10
The first of 3 songs that I call 10’s from the album. This is the exact style that made me such a big fan of Denzel, this hard hitting production, the angry tone he carries throughout the whole song, and changes in pace as the song progresses.
SUMO cont.
If there was a song that provided a proper portfolio of everything that Denzel Curry could offer, this would have to push the top of the list. Wouldn’t change a thing about this track.
5. SUPER SAIYAN SUPERMAN- 6
Not my favorite track on the album, mostly because length. Might have some of my favorite individual bars on the whole album, but it’s a scatterbrained flex of Denzel’s technical word skill, more than anything else.
6. SWITCH IT UP- 9.5
This track is so close to being a 10, so much variety in this song, just like SUMO. From the title to the chorus, this is a song from the mind of a Bipolar Zel, where his mind switches it up from nice to mean constantly.
SWITCH IT UP cont.
Additionally, there’s an incredibly hard beat, mixed in with bars, and with a great theme, it’s a near perfect song.
7. MAD I GOT IT- 7.5
This song has a great beat, almost hypnotizing, but the reason it isn’t ranked as highly for me is because of the flow. The first verse just isn’t my style. The first 2 verses of this song alone would be my second least favorite song on the album.
MAD I GOT IT cont.
And then the beat switches, and we get an AMAZING verse hidden at the end of this track. Pair this style of verse alone with the chorus and the song’s a minimum of a 6, but the other 2 verses have some bars, just not my favorite flow.
8. SIRENS- 10
Easily the best song on the album for me. Zel’s second verse is my favorite verse of his all time, and JID’s verse is my favorite JID verse ever as well. Denzel kills the half and half style flow in the first verse, and has a ton of bars in there as well.
JID’s verse is just a showcase of my favorite JID style, plenty of speed, but it’s not aggressive speed, it’s a very calm style and it fits perfect against Zel’s aggressive style in both of his verses. The end of Denzel’s last verse outro’s perfectly into Clout Cobain as well.
9. CLOUT COBAIN- 8
Yes, this is the biggest song from TA13OO, yes it is still good, but it’s not my personal favorite. This song fits the album theme perfectly, but it just feels like Denzel is holding back from really going in on this song.
CLOUT COBAIN cont.
This song follows theme well, and provides a few harsh suicide references, Cobain is literally in the title what did you expect, and also touches on mental problems throughout the track.
10. THE BLACKEST BALLOON- 8
This song has 2 verses that compare near exact opposites, from the first verse about being about his life, and being hard, while the second verse is more about drug addiction, and how reality is for addicts.
Yes, this has a nice off tone beat, and Zel delivers well too, but I just want to highlight the last line of verse 2. “On the south side it’s suicide, in a box with a suit and tie” is referencing drugs and how they come from the men in suit and tie, and it’s killing them.
11. PERCS- 10
The last 10 on the album, this song is incredible, and no part of it lacks. It has the substance, it follows the theme, and Denzel delivers it with the aggressive flow just like he does on SUMO, except on PERCS he stays on it nearly the whole time.
12. VENGEANCE- 7
This is overall just a good song in my opinion. JPEG gives a great verse, and Zel provides normal heat. My personal favorite verse in the song is from ZillaKami though, the intensity fits perfectly with the hard hook, and transitions well to the outdo track.
13. BLACK METAL TERRORIST- 9
A perfect way to end this album. “Finish em Zel” is EXACTLY how this should go, because he does just that. In case anyone wanted to doubt Denzel, he shows the speed in his rap, along with the technical skill, and an end to the dark album theme.

OVERALL ALBUM REVIEW- 10
This is my second favorite album of all time, and I give it a 10 with ease. When it comes to talent, this album showcases Denzel’s talent well. Lyrical skill is on point, the flow is variant and smooth, and the production is amazing.
Finally, the theme of the album also is quite consistent and provides a good representation of the dark side of the brain, showcasing mental health issues, along with other issues including addiction.
That concludes the TA13OO thread, if you made it this far, I appreciate you, as I said before all likes, RT’s, and Criticism is welcome and appreciated
