Welcome to my thread covering Mac's career, life, fun facts, and overall impact he left on everyone.

If you are a fan of Mac & enjoy this thread I ask you to RT for exposure. I spent a good bit of time making this.
Malcolm James McCormick began his rap career during high school believe it or not, freestyling in the cafeteria & on the bus. Mac was 15 when he released his first tape in 07.
Here's a short video of Mac going to a camp where he freestyles on the bus, a gem I always enjoy watching.
In the same high school was a young Wiz Khalifa, who was also later signed to the same label as Mac, Rostrum.
Mac's first rap name was Eazy Mac, hence why you would sometimes hear the reference in his songs Eazy Mac with the cheesy raps. They were pretty cheesy in his old stuff lmao
From 2007 to 2009 he had some pretty cheesy mixtapes but even if you didn't care for the music itself, you could tell he had a blast making it. Mac was so full of spirit.
Then Mac evolved with the mixtape K.I.D.S. Little did we know Kids would blow up and become a staple in his discography. With iconic tracks like Nikes on my Feet, Kool-aid & Frozen Pizza it actually sparked fire in some artists.
Logic admits that if Mac never dropped Kool-aid & Frozen pizza he may not have pursued his Young Sinatra tapes. That's pretty deep. Another track that's a personal favorite was The Spins. You could hear how happy he was truly. Just graduating high school it was very feel-good.
Mac follows up Kids with Best Day Ever, another iconic mixtape of his further making his name known. With tracks like Donald Trump, BDE, and Keep Floatin', Mac showcased more of his upbeat and young spirit.
Finally Mac debuts his first studio album Blue Slide Park, named after the same park in Pittsburgh. In terms of quality of music, this album had a pretty significant jump from his tapes. You could see what he would become.
Mac's next big project to hit was Macadelic having elite features like Kendrick, Lil Wayne, and Joey Badass. This tape immediately showcases an evolved sound yet again, a more grounded Mac; a Mac who loved to throw moaning at the end of a track lmao
2013 hits and Mac delivers us a quality album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off. Again, unlike anything we've heard & top tier features. To this day it contains some of my all time favorite tracks like, Red Dot Music, Objects in the Mirror, and REMember.
After delivering WMWTSO I never thought he would drop another tape. Especially one of this caliber. Faces absolutely delivered becoming a top mixtape for many fans. Diablo being possibly one of his best songs yet was not something I expected.
If you haven't had the chance to check out Faces or it's been awhile, go listen! Some of his best work, honestly. Oh and YES MAC YOU DID IT ALL WITHOUT A DRAKE FEATURE!
A short fun fact about Mac, he actually used a different name while producing records. He called himself Larry Fisherman. "Larry Fisherman represents the part of me that's a completely nasty studio rat".
We've finally arrived at my second favorite Mac project, GO:OD AM. This project was Mac's best rapping with darker lyrics, incredible production and solid features. It is also home to my favorite Mac song, Ascension.
This album hit at a time in 2015 when I connected with it on a deeper level and Ascension was such a deep track with Mac trying to become a brand new self. It also features one of the best "long" tracks, Perfect Circle / God Speed.
This track starts off with a HEAVY slapping beat layered with a hard piano. What stood out to me the most is this section in God Speed..it always hits me hard listening to it.
The Divine Feminine brought an emotional Mac not afraid to display his feelings to the world. He had some incredible tracks on here like Cinderella, We, and Dang! He knew how to put together a track and this was a clear direction of where his music would go.
2018. Swimming drops and it becomes one of his best projects yet, we had no idea what was to come.. on September 7th 2018 we woke up to devastating news of Mac's passing. I was in denial for over a day, how could this talented soul be gone?
Mac was spirited and touched TDE a lot. He was such good friends with all of them, and here's another fun video of Mac and Q lmao.
Now we enter 2020 where we received imo, his best work ever. Raw emotion, his finished idea, Swimming in Circles. When Good News released I didn't think it was possible to get an album of that caliber.
We actually received genius work from an artist who only climbed up in terms of production and artistry. It was the perfect way to end the saga but I still get sad listening to it as most would.
Thank you to Jon Brion who did some finishing touches to give the world closure. I'll link this interview for those who are interested in watching. It's great to hear stories of him during his time recording the album.
That's the end of my thread! I hope you all enjoyed this tribute to Mac Miller, an artist we were undeserving of. May his music live on forever, most dope.
