Azerbaijan is surrounded by mountains. The Greater Caucasus range lies to the northeast along the border with Russia and extends into northeastern Azerbaijan and runs southeast to the Absheron Peninsula.
The Lesser Caucasus range lies to the west along the border with Armenia and the Talysh Mountains lies to the south along the border with Iran.

There are mineral springs and very active mud volcanoes in Gobustan which is situated near Baku.
This is just a photo thread about some of these mountains.

Babadağ (Literal translation: Grandfather moutain) is a mountain in Quba District. It is considered a sacred site. Pilgrims make the long trek to the summit from Babadağ base camp at the foot of the mountain.
Mount Bazardüzü is a mountain peak in the Greater Caucasus range on the border between Dagestan, Russia and Azerbaijan. At 4,466 metres (14,652 ft) above sea level, it is the highest peak in both Azerbaijan, and is located in the Qusar region.
Besh Barmag literally translated as Five Finger, is in Siyazan District.

The mountain is made from rocks and known for its mythical stories. It is a sacred place for regular visitation by pilgrims.
Shahdagh is a mountain peak of the Greater Caucasus range, located in the Qusar District.

Among the earth rocks found in Shahdag are magnesian lime, chalkstone and marble. During winter, the average temperature is around -20°C.
The Murovdağ is the highest mountain range in the Lesser Caucasus

Following the First Nagorno-Karabakh war, the mountain ridge formed the northern part of the line of contact separating the self-proclaimed "NKR" from Azerbaijan and was the scene of a battle in 1993.
Ilandagh one of the main symbols of the Nakhchivan autonomous republic in Azerbaijan.

Its name is translated as 'Snake Mountain'. According to legend, good people could hide on it, away from villains who were mercilessly attacked by snakes.
According to the legend, Noah's Ark changed the shape of Ilandagh. At that moment, Noah understood that land was close by. The legend says the Ark finished it's journey around 100 kilometres later when it sat on the top of another mountain, higher than Ilandagh.
Kapaz is a mountain in Lesser Caucasus near Ganja city in central Azerbaijan.

It is located next to Lake Göygöl and its huge rocks broken off the mount and blocking a nearby river in 1139 earthquake were a cause for creation of the lake.
