Mason Mount the future of Chelsea (a thread)
Mason Mount has been a player who has came through the academy starting at 6 years old. He has always worked his way through the academy even when everyone doubted him even his own father with the lack of players who broke through but he believed in Mason.
Mentioned in his “the pride” interview they say Mason never wanted to miss training even when others go to party and we’re doing other things Mount always wanted to train instead which is a great mentality from a young age to show so much passion for the club.
Mount worked his way through the Chelsea academy winning many trophies which include x1: UEFA Youth league x2: Fa youth cup x1: U18 Premier league x1: Chelsea academy player of the year x1: UEFA European Under-19 Championship Team of the Tournament and golden player
Mason Mount did not leave the trophies and awards in youth level though he has also won them in his professional career including x1: Eredivise Talent of the month x1: Vitesse player of the year x1: Eredivise team of the year
Mason Mount was then the loaned out to championship side derby county who had a new manager in Frank Lampard who is in his first season of management. Mason Mount was very well liked by manager Frank Lampard causing him to have 35 appearances with 8 goals and 5 assists.
This lead Derby county into the championship playoffs in which they reached the final of after defeating Leeds with the famous “spygate” situation with mount scoring in the tie. Derby came up short in the final and Mount returned to Chelsea.
Mason Mount would not return to Chelsea alone though with Sarri being sacked by Chelsea this lead to Chelsea legend and Mounts former manager Frank Lampard to in the dugout. With Chelsea being into a season long transfer ban Lampard continued to show his faith in Mount
Mount had an impressive first season with 41 appearances with 8 goals and 6 assists. These may not look impressive on paper but Mount played as a high pressing midfielder who would win the ball back and distribute it to a teammate and sometimes in a holding midfielder or a winger
This debut season in the premier league impressed the England manager Gareth Southgate with 3 goals in 11 appearances he has proved his worth for England playing alongside best friend Declan Rice who is a transfer target for Chelsea,
Mason Mount this season for Chelsea has made 16 appearances has got 1 goal and 3 assists and is regarded as one of the most consistent in the side with an average 7.2 rating with a 87% pass accuracy for the season so far
The sky is the limit for Mason Mount and I am sure he will go very far in his career with him only going to grow in his career and personally he is my favourite player for his style of play and his versatility.
