Is sidehustling worth it? đŸ§”

Creating an expensive hobby is a common trap. Building a 2nd job is another.
You want your sidehustle to be an asset. Something that can scale – drive results when *you* aren’t working.

Work * Asset = Output

Unfortunately the Asset factor can be negative. Your sidehustle turns into an expensive hobby.
My grandpa’s vineyard, for example, was a fantastic sidehustle. You put plants in the ground and that shit GROWS MONEY!

... except for all the back breaking hard work. Oops

I ran some numbers for my own sidehustle – teaching engineers how to engineer better. *handwaves*

See, it’s poorly defined. That’s already bad 😅

Made $54,000 in product sales last year. Not bad. But that’s gross revenue.
Net revenue is where things get weird.

$11,831 in software and services
$21,104 in hired help
$2,236 in ads

👉 $19,369
Making $20k on top of your salary is no joke.

But at average 3h/day that’s just $20/h. You’re almost better off sidehustling as a Starbucks barista in SF. đŸ€”

HOWEVER: A barista sidehustle doesn’t compound.
You’re building assets. Not a job. Assets.

And if your sidehustle aligns with your main career, you’re golden. Keep going.
