Hey@SofabedSoc, I have a good faith question, bc I see a lot of folks trying Uber hard to push leftists to endorse MMT.
I have a couple legit concerns about this, and you seem to be someone who comes correct.
Here it is, in thread format:

MMT is economic theory that describes our current paradigm.
Obviously, bc we're forced to live within current society, I support the use of those principles to accomplish leftist goals.
But MMT doesn't address resource procurement, which America maintains via imperialism.

Leftists are not only against Imperialism, but we're expected to actively combat it.
MMT also doesn't address ownership, which must be done to prevent generational reconsolidation of wealth.
So of course, we deficit spend to fund a Green New Deal, m4a, etc. That makes sense...

But it's time to have the more fundamental economic conversations too.
In a hundred years, who will own this society that our CURRENT spending & resources build? Will it belong to the people, or will it be reclaimed by those currently opposing our agenda?

Those are the questions I need answered. I advocate for a transformation in our economy. For the ownership of it to transfer to workers; for true democracy at work, As well as the ballot box.
MMT has a great set of tools for the early phases, but our right to sovereignty over the world's reserve currency is a gunpoint arrangement.
So if we truly aim to stop being an imperialist country, what weapons when we lower that weapon, and how does/could MMT empower that?

Bc right now, every argument for MMT is only being presented in a way that empowers the existing status quo.
You may have more luck with the left if more ppl started utilizing mmt as a TOOL working towards something BETTER, rather than as a SOLUTION for the current paradigm.

I genuinely want to hear ur thoughts, bc it could create a path forward worth taking.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I wanna thank & credit @dj_elleri, bc the framing for this came directly from our interactions during the Collins campaign, as the campaign staff outlined the basis of what ultimately became the foundation for "The Peoples' Platform".
Oof, the tag broke. @SofabedSoc tagging you in comments to respond to thread. <3
