As an LGBTQ+ Muslim in this country, you get THE shortest end of the stick. To help you understand that, let me just draw a comparison between protests that took place against CAA and protests that took place against the Trans Bill:
The protests against the Trans Bill were so small, I went to three of them that took place in Hyderabad and the protest with the largest strength had max 30 people there. Whereas the protests against CAA had massive amounts of people EVERYWHERE.
If you’re wondering why I’m making that comparison in the first place, its because when I, and countless other queer people, went to the CAA protests, many of us went knowing that hardly anyone at those protests would come protest the trans bill with us.
Now, it’s different when I make this point as opposed to a sanghi(who would no doubt, use this to further their xenophobic agenda) because I’m in the peculiar position of being a queer Muslim (Muslim on paper, but you get it) in this country.
And I’m trying to explain how queer Muslims are persecuted for being Muslim in this country and also have to suffer from abuse, exclusion, hatred etc. from the Muslim community for being queer. Not to mention queerphobia from the state as well
And before anyone tries it, I believe you should stand up against injustice regardless of whether or not a group of people would stand up for your rights as well, that's just being a human being.
But there is a problem that needs to be addressed here
