The left has a messaging problem.

One of these ads was created while Steve Jobs was sick and not giving final approvals on advertising. Which one do you think it was?

Now, which one do you think we sound like when we talk policy?
I look at this (RW rag, yeah, I know) and I compare it to Jacobin and it's very clear to me which one will win new hearts and minds to its cause vs preaching to the converted. How and where do we spend our money in 2021 and beyond?
It's time for some introspection and a new game plan. I also think it's time to realize that action is good and anyone who wants to sit on the sidelines and preach inaction and pragmatism is not cut out for the fight and can be ignored as we plow ahead. We've seen that work.
We're an intellectual and interrogating group and it's worked to our disadvantage so far. It may be time to stop fighting every tiny little fight along the path (absolutely our Achilles heel) and just move ahead with like-minded people.
It's time to abandon language that separates us & focus on getting our initiatives passed. That means capitalizing on the fact that Independents represent a plurality in this country. As many have said, M4A, for example, isn't fringe, it's mainstream. Embrace that.
If we can't stop standing on ceremony on so many niche issues, then some of the criticism about us is true, and we are our own worst enemies. I'd like the critics to be wrong about that.
We need a cohesive message and a well-funded platform. Then we need to run headlong at those goals and stop having those stupid little fights among ourselves and with our critics. Complete "f em if they're not on board" energy.
So, when someone like Natalie comes along to "well, actually" the meaning of a poll, we don't stop. We don't address her. We know we're right so we don't give her oxygen. Same with all the others. We plow ahead with our message and perfect our medium.
